Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an advanced level of digital technology where software mimics human intelligence and judgment. Computers are trained to process human-like traits such as learning, problem-solving, and decision-making.
AI is properly either narrow (or weak) or general (or strong), and it is a goal for researchers to create both types. There is a significant difference between the two types. In the short term, one goal of AI research is to create a safe and beneficial AI impact on society, which motivates many different areas. In order words, there needs to be more work done on making sure the robots are being used as intended.
In the long term, an important question is what will happen if the quest for strong AI succeeds, and an AI system becomes better than humans at all cognitive tasks. As pointed out by I.J. Good in 1965, designing smarter AI systems is itself a cognitive task. Such a system could potentially undergo recursive self-improvement, triggering an intelligence explosion, leaving human intellect far behind.
By creating superintelligences, we might be able to rid the world of war and disease. But what if they evolve into robots that work against us with goals set by their own intelligence? Then there is a chance this could be the end of humanity. People must learn how to not only control it but also to align its aims with ours before they become superintelligent.

AI is unlikely to have human emotions like love or hate, and it is also impossible for AI systems to become malicious. But here are two realistic concerns:

· The AI is programmed to do something beneficial, but it develops a destructive method for achieving its goal This can happen whenever we fail to fully align the AI’s goals with ours. The programmed goal might be beneficial but there might be collateral, unforeseen damage, or harm caused during its pursuit of the goals. AI is a concern not because it is malevolently inclined, but because of its competence.
Why The Recent Interest In AI Safety?
Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk, and many other big names in science and technology have recently expressed concern about the risks posed by AI. This was joined by leading AI researchers who share their fears for humanity’s future with AI.
Advances in AI have been made and many experts are now taking the possibility of a superintelligence seriously. The quest for strong AI was long thought to be decades away, but recent breakthroughs suggest it could happen within our lifetimes. However, scientists are warning us that the future of AI may be too unpredictable for humans to handle.
Benefits Of AI
However scary the future of strong AI might seem to some, AI is certainly here to stay. Scientists and researchers are concerned about risks arising from superintelligence or strong AI, but narrow AI is undeniably beneficial for humanity having no serious threat attending it. In fact, the more common narrow AI greatly improves various industries such as these ways:
